9-29-22 fdl city council cuts funding for envision greater fdl

The president of Envision Greater Fond du Lac says she is disappointed the Fond  du Lac city council is slashing it’s funding for the organization in the city’s 2023 budget.   Sadie Vander Velde says the council has cut the city’s $65,000 contribution to Envision in half, reallocating the $32,000 to the Downtown Fond  du Lac  Partnership.  Vander Velde says the money was used to fund two positions,  the director of Small Business and Entrepreneurship,  and the director of Business Client Services.   Vander Velde says it does feel kind of personal to hear councilmembers say the funding  is being cut by 50 percent to be allocated to the Downtown Partnership as “a reward.”  Vander Velde says since the council’s decision, some member businesses have stepped up to increase their funding to make up the difference.
