A fundraiser was held in Fond du Lac over the weekend to help breast cancer mastectomy patients. Breast cancer survivor Karen Jo Dobyns helped organize the sixth annual Bags for Bags Plus Scarves fundraiser. All of the money raised from the sale of donated scarves and purses goes toward the purchase of a necessities bag with personal care items for mastectomy patients. Dobyns says over the years the event has raised more than $50,000.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
