10-25-22 fatal wisconsin fire update

HARTLAND, Wis. (AP) — Authorities have identified the six people who died in an apartment fire in southern Wisconsin as two adults and four children. Police said Sunday that all six lived together in one apartment of the four-unit building in Hartland. Officials say the adults who died were Connor McKisick and Jessica McKisick. 10-25-22 deputy fatally shoots man suspected of weapons violations

OREGON, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say a sheriff’s deputy in Wisconsin shot and killed a person suspected of committing several weapons violations. Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett says dispatchers got a 911 call about a weapons violation in the Village of Oregon about 11 a.m. Sunday and deputies began searching for the suspect. The Wisconsin Department of Justice says the individual was suspected of “several weapons violations” in recent days. […]

10-25-22 waupun police respond to reports of gunshots fired

Waupun police have arrested a man who  created a scare after residents heard gunshots.    Shortly before 1pm Monday a resident called  police reporting that she heard what sounded  like a gunshot fired from a vehicle in the area of a junk dealership  on Jackson Street in an area near the Mill Pond.    Police responded and located two individuals who said they were  shooting at squirrels.  Police are continuing their investigation.

10-24-22 oshkosh man convicted of stealing $426,000 from elderly nursing home resident

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — An Oshkosh man convicted of stealing more than $426,000 from a 92-year-old nursing home resident is scheduled to be sentenced in January. A jury earlier this month found Terry Culver guilty of eight felonies. 10-24-22 wi unemployment rate up slightly

The state’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 3.2 percent in September, as Wisconsin continues to make progress in regaining the jobs lost during the pandemic. That’s according to Department of Workforce Development Chief Economist Dennis Winters.   Winters says Wisconsin has now regained 99 percent of the jobs lost during the pandemic economic slowdown after adding 7,000 total nonfarm jobs in September, but remains about 43,400 jobs short of the pre-pandemic peak.  Meanwhile, […]
