A portion of West First Street between South Main and South Macy Streets in Fond du Lac is closed for the next couple of days. The closure will begin Wednesday and remain closed through the end of day Thursday, November 10. The closure will be in place to allow a roofing contractor to place a crane on West 1st Street for a project. Access to Darling Place and City Parking Lot #18 will remain in place.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
