Area school officials are preparing for the next steps following passage of referendums this week. Voters approved operations referendums in Ripon, Waupun and North Fond du Lac school districts. In the North Fond du Lac School District voters also approved a major building referendum for renovations and expansion and Bessie Allen Middle School and Horace Mann High School. “It says so much about our community,” superintendent Dr. Matt Mineau told WFDL news. Mineau says while many districts struggle with declining enrollment, the North Fond du Lac School District student population is growing. Waupun School District voters approved a referendum allowing the district to exceed the state revenue limit by $980,000 annually for three years. Waupun superintendent Steve Hill says the referendum is necessary to maintain current programming and operations amid rising costs, and stagnant state aid and enrollment.
