The Fond du Lac city council has approved a budget that includes a decrease in the tax rate. Fond du Lac city manager Joe Moore says the biggest capital improvement in the budget is what’s called a bio-solids dryer at the wastewater treatment plant. Other major projects include a new pump station, a bridge connecting Lakeside Park to Lakeside Park West, and street projects.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
