AAA is predicting Thanksgiving travel will approach pre-pandemic levels. State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmusz says AAA predicts 54.6 million Americans and nearly 1.1 million Wisconsinites will travel 50 miles or more from home for the holiday. Jarmusz says while gas prices and inflation weigh on budgets, travel remains a top priority for Americans, particularly during the holidays. Wisconsin drivers are paying an average price of $3.59 cents for a gallon of gasoline. That’s 48 cents more than last Thanksgiving.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
