For the second year in a row St. Mary’s Springs Academy has exceeded expectations in the latest school report card from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
“Our ‘exceeds expectations’ ranking on the state school report card is a direct result of our intentional investment in continuous improvement initiatives,” states Stacey Akey, President of St. Mary’s Springs Academy. “As a school, we are focused on continuous improvement, specifically improving student learning outcomes. The report card results demonstrate we are focused on the right areas and are getting positive results.” The annual state report card, released on November 15, 2022, looks at a portion of SMSA students and their performance during the 2021-2022 school year. Statewide, schools and districts receive grades in four priority areas, which are aggregated into an overall accountability score from 0 to 100. The four priority areas focus on achievement and growth in the academic areas of English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics, as well as the outcomes of students with the lowest test scores and progress to graduation. “While the state report cards are just one source of information about our academic performance,” adds Akey, “We are very pleased to report that SMSA shows continued growth, having achieved a 4-star rating with 72.8 points scored out of 100.”
