As motorists head out for the long Thanksgiving holiday area law enforcement is reminding people to slow down and pay attention while driving. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Chris Dobyns says deputies will be out in full force. In Wisconsin more than 1.1 million people are expected to travel more than 50 miles from home during the holiday weekend.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
