11-22-22 wisconsin’s projected budget surplus grows

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin’s projected state budget surplus is now forecast to hit nearly $6.6 billion by July, up from earlier $5 billion estimates. 11-22-22 wi farm bureau thanksgiving marketbasket survey

The price of a Thanksgiving meal in Wisconsin is 4.3 percent more this year, but still below the national average.  That according to the Wisconsin Farm Bureau's annual marketbasket survey.   Farm Bureau spokeswoman Cassie Sonnentag says the price for 15 Thanksgiving food items this year rang in at $74.54, up from $71.49 cents last year,  but below the national average of $81.30.  The cost of a 16 pound turkey is […]

11-22-22 wholesale inflation down

Prices at the wholesale level rose eight percent in October from a year ago,  the fourth straight decline.  Retired Ripon College economist Paul Schoofs says it's the latest sign that inflation pressures in the United States are easing from painfully high levels.  Schoofs says the figures came in lower than economists expected and make it more likely the Federal Reserve will increase its benchmark interest rate in smaller increments.

11-22-22 fdl man convicted in drug overdose death sentenced to prison

A Fond du Lac man convicted in the drug overdose death of a Fond du Lac woman is going to prison.  Robert Harris has been sentenced to seven years in prison followed by eight years extended supervision after he was found guilty of first degree reckless  homicide.  The charges carried a maximum sentence of  40 years in prison.   Police say Harris provided fentanyl that led to the woman’s death at a West Second Street rooming house […]

11-22-22 two killed in chain reaction crash on i-41 in outagamie county

Two people were killed and nine people injured in a chain reaction series of crashes on Interstate 41 in Outagamie County over the weekend.  The first crash happened Sunday afternoon when a vehicle rolled over on northbound 41 at Highway 441 ejecting the driver.  He  received serious injuries and was arrested for drunken driving.  The crash caused a traffic backup resulting in a five-vehicle crash.    Numerous patients were transported by ambulance to the hospital, […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican Amy Loudenbeck is conceding that she has lost the race for Wisconsin secretary of state. Unofficial results from the Nov. 8 election show incumbent Democrat Doug La Follette defeated Loudenbeck by 7,660 votes. The difference was just three-tenths of a percentage point, close enough for Loudenbeck to request a recount but outside the margin that would have made it free. She conceded on Monday. 11-21-22 hunting fatality-green lake county

An 11 year old boy died in a hunting accident in Green Lake County.  The DNR says the boy was accidentally shot in the chest Sunday morning in the town of Seneca.  According to the DNR a 41 year old man tried to unload his gun while it was placed in the back seat of a vehicle.  The gun discharged striking the victim.  The victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital where he died.
