12-6-22 november jobs market

todayDecember 5, 2022

The nation’s employers kept hiring briskly in November despite high inflation and a slow-growing economy.  The economy added 263,000 jobs, while the unemployment rate stayed at 3.7 percent.  Retired Ripon College economist Paul Schoofs says the numbers reflect a strong labor market and were higher than expected.   Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell said the Federal Reserve will push interest rates higher than previously expected and keep them there longer to fight inflation.
