The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign through New Year’s Day. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says there will be more deputies on patrol to get impaired drivers off the road. During the last holiday season, there were nearly 400 crashes in Wisconsin that involved an impaired driver. Waldschmidt says if you plan to celebrate, have a sober designated driver, or find a safe ride home. Never allow someone who is impaired get behind the wheel.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
