The secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says agricultural education is key to the industry’s future workforce. Randy Romanski says hundreds of ag instructors work daily to educate young people and build the industry’s future workforce. Fond du lac County Dairy and Livestock extension agent Tina Kohlman says ag classes are available in school districts in every Wisconsin county, including Fond du Lac County. “In Fond du Lac County we pretty much have one (Ag education class) in every school district except the Fond du Lac School District,” Kohlman told WFDL news. Kohlman says one in nine jobs in Wisconsin is related to agriculture.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
