Nancy Vanderkin is being remembered as a person who loved her community. Funeral services were held Tuesday for the longtime Waupun alderwoman. Vanderkin passed away last Wednesday at the age of 74. Waupun mayor Rohn Bishop says it seems that Vanderkin was involved in everything in the community. “Celebrate Waupun wouldn’t have happened without her. She was very involved in the Lions Club. She served on the Police and Fire Commission for many years,” Bishop told WFDL news. “There’s no one who loved the police and firefighters more than Nancy.” Bishop says Vanderkin loved Waupun, and made Waupun a better place for everyone. Vanderkin is survived by her three daughters, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a brother and a sister. She was preceeeded in death by her husband Larry in 2002.
