Fond du Lac police are investigating an assault involving a firearm and stolen vehicle. Shortly before 8:30am Saturday police attempted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle on Western Avenue near Military Road. The vehicle attempted to flee, but then pulled over and a 41 year old Fond du Lac woman and 35 year old Fond du Lac man were arrested. The driver, a 30 year old Milwaukee man, led law enforcement on a high speed chase that ended about five miles later when the vehicle collided with a squad car on West Rolling Meadows Drive. The suspect was arrested when he attempted to flee on foot.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
