Two Milwaukee men are in custody following a high speed chase in Fond du Lac. The chase started shortly after midnight Monday when police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle out of Milwaukee in the area of S. Butler Street and Forest Avenue. The vehicle traveled through areas in the southwest portion of the City before going southbound on Interstate Highway 41. The pursuit reached speeds of 100 MPH. The chase ended when the vehicle ran over stop sticks placed on the Interstate near a rest area and the driver was arrested following a short foot chase. The 24 year old Milwaukee man and 18 year old male passenger were arrested. A second passenger was a 15-year-old Milwaukee female that was entered as a runaway out of Milwaukee.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
