The late longtime Fond du Lac County executive Allen Buechel is being recognized with an honorary street designation . As part of the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration on Monday an unveiling will be held of the honorary designation for the Allen J. Buechel Street. The unveiling will take place at the intersection of 2nd and Macy Streets where the two Honorary Streets of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Allen J. Buechel intersect. Buechel died last spring from a heart attack at the age of 74.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
