1-17-23 waupun arpa money decisions

Waupun city officials hope to make a decision in the next couple of months on how to spend a little more than $1.1 million in federal ARPA funds.  Mayor Rohn Bishop says the problem is prioritizing more than $20 million in wants and needs outlined by city officials and the public on how the money should be spent.  “Had someone told me years ago that the government was going to give me a million dollars and that was going to be hard to get rid of I wonldn’t have believed it,”  Bishop told WFDL news.  “But we’re trying to get all of the facts out there.  Decisions are going to have to be made, not everyone is going to love what we do.”   Bishop says there are residents who feel the money should be spent only on needs, not wants.  The Waupun Common Council held a listening session last week  on the ARPA funding.
