Investigators say speed and alcohol were factors in a one vehicle crash in Fond du Lac County that claimed the life of a teenager and injured two other teens.  The crash happened shortly before 3:30am Saturday on Golf Course Drive east of Taft Road.  The driver, a 16 year old Mount Calvary area boy, was flown by helicopter to Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Neenah with life-threatening injuries.  A […]

1-23-23 fdl county using arpa funds to upgrade landfill

A Fond du Lac County committee is recommending spending federal  American Rescue Plan Act funds to upgrade the county landfill.  The resolution calls for the county to appropriate $580,000 in federal ARPA funds toward upgrades and repairs at the landfill.  County executive Sam Kaufman says some of the monitoring wells at the landfill are outdated and non compliant with DNR regulations.  Kaufman says at this point although some of the wells are not […]

1-23-23 oshkosh man charged in fatal alcohol-related crash in fdl county

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — University of Wisconsin-Platteville officials want their Richland campus to focus on online education after in-person instruction ends for good after the spring semester. 1-23-23 contractor faces theft charges in several counties

A contractor faces theft charges in several counties.  Tyler Hansen recently posted $10,000 cash bond in Columbia County. Hansen is charged with theft by contractor.   If convicted, Hansen faces up to $25,000 in fines and 10 years in prison. He is also facing  theft by contractor charges in Dane, Green and Monroe counties.  Hansen has also been charged with theft by false representation in Winnebago County.  His initial appearance in this case is scheduled […]

1-21-23 dodge county board approves contracting out law enforcement services to village of lomira

The Dodge County Board has approved contracting out law enforcement services to the village of Lomira through the Sheriff's Office.  As part of a budget amendment Lomira will fund a patrol sergeant and two patrol deputies at a total cost of nearly $430,000.  The Sheriff's Office took over administrative oversight of the Department last fall following the resignation of the Lomira Police chief, a patrol officer, and part-time school resource officer.

The Rosendale Brandon School  Board has approved placing two referendum questions on the April election ballot.   The first ballot question would allow the District to exceed to revenue limit by $1.5 million for two years for operational expenses.  A $35.7 million referendum would allow the District to consolidate from four buildings to two, creating a 4K-5 building at the current Rosendale Intermediate site, and a grades 6-12 building at the Laconia High School location.  A […]
