Attorneys Maryann Schacht and Todd Snow received the most votes in Tuesday’s primary election and will advance to the April general election for a municipal judge position in Beaver Dam. The multi-jurisdictional court handles municipal matters and traffic citations for Beaver Dam, Mayville and Waupun. Snow is a Waupun attorney. Schacht has worked as a Beaver Dam attorney and prosecutor for several years.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
