The National Weather Service says Fond du Lac and the surrounding area received 12 to 12 and a half inches of snow during this weeks’ snowstorm…with slightly fewer inches in the western half of the county. National Weather Service meteorologist Taylor Patterson in the Ripon area the snowfall totals were closer to ten inches. Patterson says the lowest snowfall total reported in Fond du Lac County was nine inches. The storm shut down roads, closed schools and businesses and prompted warnings for people to stay home.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
