todayFebruary 28, 2023

The Republican Party of Fond du Lac County is on record in support of  eliminating  voting machines and going back to hand counting ballots.  The party voted in favor of a resolution at a meeting this month  that states that achieving the highest possible vote count accuracy will naturally lead to voter confidence.  Timothy  Bachleitner is the chair of the party.  “In order to instill confidence with the voter, to take out anything that could at this point  hinder them from believing wholeheartedly that their vote matters,  it’s sacred, and that it’s not being unevenly weighted,  the scale is not being tipped by the opposition, the final wording of the resolution was that the simplelist way to fix this was to go back to hand counting,”  Bachleitner told WFDL news.  Republican Fond du Lac County Clerk, Lisa Freiberg was at the meeting and objected to the resolution.   Freiberg says the machines are accurate.  “It is disappointing,”  Freiberg told WFDL news.  “My  thoughts go back to the party needs to move forward.  We continue to stay fixated on the machines and not what is going on.”  Bachleitner says it’s nothing personal against the county clerk.  “…an incredible, amazing, hard working woman that has the trust of her constituents.  She has the full trust and confidence of the county party,”  Bachleitner said.  “But that is where we disagree a little on some of the points as to what happens to our data on the night of elections.  The machines have routers in them.  I’ve seen invoices from outside services that are hired for our data to be sifted through on election evening.”   The resolution states that the voting machines are connected to the Internet and can therefore be compromised.  Freiberg says that’s not true.  “They are not connected to the Internet,”  Freiberg told WFDL news.  “That is continuous incorrect information.”
