Fond du Lac Firefighters and Alliant Energy Crews were called Tuesday afternoon for a report of a gas leak. Fire Chief Erik Gerritsen says shortly after 2pm Tuesday Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue received a call that a contractor accidentally struck a gas main at 114 South Bell Street. Gerritsen says a two block area was evacuated until Alliant Energy could repair the leak.
A Fond du Lac man arrested last year in connection with a 2016 mailbox bombing on Doty Street has been convicted. One person was injured in the incident. Improperly discarded smoking materials on the deck are blamed for a fire that damaged the kitchen at the Blandine House in Fond du Lac. Shortly before 6pm Monday firefighters were called to the scene on North Park Avenue to find smoke coming from a kitchen wall in the back of the building.
