2-15-23 corbin burnes, brewers go to salary arbitration

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Two-time All-Star Corbin Burnes went to salary arbitration with the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday.  Burnes asked for a raise from $6.55 million to $10.75 million and the Brewers argued for $10.01 million during a hearing before Melinda Gordon, Jules Bloch and Keith Greenberg.     A decision is expected Wednesday.  Burnes, a 28-year-old right-hander, was 12-8 with a 2.94 ERA in 2022 and made a career-best 33 […]

2-15-23 fdl fire crews respond to gas leak

Fond du Lac Firefighters and Alliant Energy Crews were called Tuesday afternoon for a report of a gas leak.   Fire Chief Erik Gerritsen says shortly after 2pm Tuesday  Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue received a call that a contractor accidentally struck a gas main  at 114 South Bell Street.  Gerritsen says a two block area was evacuated until Alliant Energy could repair the leak.

2-15-23 fdl man convicted in mailbox bombing

A Fond du Lac man arrested last year in connection with a 2016 mailbox bombing  on Doty Street has been convicted.  One person was injured in the incident.   Jonas Johnson has been convicted of  Party to a Crime of Damage of Property by Use of Explosives, Reckless Injury and Reckless Endangerment.   A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered.   The charges carry a maximum  sentence of up to 40 years in prison and 30 years […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican lawmakers are backing a bill that would render a controversial Wisconsin Supreme Court decision obsolete by loosening limits on when people who sue over open records requests can recover attorney's fees. 2-14-23 fdl firefighters quickly extinguish kitchen fire

Improperly discarded smoking materials on the deck are blamed for a fire that damaged the kitchen at the Blandine House in Fond du Lac.  Shortly before 6pm Monday firefighters were called to the scene on North Park Avenue to find smoke coming from a kitchen wall in the back of the building.
