An Oshkosh man is in custody following a 24 mile long high speed chase in Fond du Lac and Winnebago counties. The chase started shortly after 6pm Tuesday when a sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for multiple equipment violations on Highway 151 near Cataraugus Road. The vehicle ran over a tire deflation device on Highway 26 in the village of Rosendale but continued north into Winnebago County . The chase ended when the vehicle crashed into a ditch on Fisk Avenue near Country Club Road. The driver, a 26 year old Oshkosh man, was arrested. Authorities found methamphetamine, cocaine, and a large amount of cash in the car. The driver also had a felony drug warrant out of Virginia.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
