Two teenage girls escaped serious injury in a one vehicle rollover crash in Fond du Lac County. The crash happened shortly before 9pm Saturday when the driver of a car failed to negotiate a curve on Highway 45 near Mitchell Road. The car entered a ditch and overturned after striking a culvert and burst into flames. A passerby and sheriff’s deputies extinguished the fire and helped rescue the occupants from the vehicle. A 16 year old girl from Campbellsport and 15 year old girl from Eden were transported to St. Agnes Hospital with what were described as minor injuries. The Sheriff’s Offfice says speed and impairment were factors in the crash.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
