4-20-23 slow down in work zones

Dodge County Highway officials are urging  drivers to pay attention and slow down this construction season.  This week is national Work Zone Awareness Week.  Dodge County Highway commissioner Brian Field says work zones include any time in which there are flashing lights, signs, barrels or workers on the road.  According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation over the past five years there have been more than 11,500 crashes in Wisconsin work zones causing 63 deaths and more than 4,300 injuries.   Field says a new safety feature this year is that highway maintenance vehicles are equipped with green and amber flashing lights.   Field says even in areas with reduced speed limits things can happen in an instant.  Field says always expect the unexpected.
