4-28-23 five injured when car crashes into verizon store in fdl

A 20 year old Oakfield man faces charges after slamming his car into the Verizon cell phone store in Fond du Lac injuring four people inside, one critically.  The crash happened shortly before 12:30pm Thursday at the Verizon Store on North Rolling Meadows Drive.    According to police the driver was northbound on N. Rolling Meadows Drive just north of the Wal-Mart parking lot when the vehicle left the roadway.  The vehicle traveled approximately 300 feet off-road through parts of a terrace and parts of the Pet Smart/Dollar Tree parking lot before jumping over the curb of the Verizon parking lot and smashing through the building into Verizon’s showroom.  Two men, ages 30 and 23 and a 49 year old woman inside the store were transported to St. Agnes Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.  A 29 year old woman inside the store was flown by helicopter to Theda Care Medical Center in Neenah with life-threatening injuries.   The driver received non life-threatening injuries.   The driver was arrested for Operating While Impaired Causing Great Bodily Harm.
