Salute the Troops is hosting their annual half marathon, 5K, ruck march, and kids fun run this Memorial Day weekend. The event will be held Saturday on Oven Island at Fonddu Lac’s Lakeside Park. Race coordinator Vicky Suprenand says proceeds will benefit veterans and their families in the Fox Valley. “This annual event is a staple for Salute the Troops,” Suprenand said. “…it’s a great opportunity for runners and walkers of all types to enjoy the outdoors, all while assisting veterans.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
