5-30-23 ymca of dodge county announces expansion

The YMCA of Dodge County has announced an expansion of its Health and Wellness Center, a project that has increased usable fitness center space by 31%.   “Coming out of the pandemic, we’ve seen an incredible surge of community interest in our programs and fitness center,” said Dirk Langfoss, YMCA of Dodge County Chief Executive Officer. “Our space has already reached its capacity to serve the current demand, and we’re projecting and additional 12% growth in 2023.  Expansion is urgently needed and will provide a tremendous benefit to those in Dodge County and beyond.”  Langfoss also announced that Beaver Dam Community Hospitals Foundation, Inc. has significantly funded the
project by awarding the YMCA of Dodge County a $500,000 grant.  “The YMCA of Dodge County has provided valuable and life-changing opportunities for thousands of our
community members over the years and the Foundation is proud to support a project that will allow even more of Dodge County’s residents to achieve their health and wellness goals,” said Chuck Neuman, Beaver Dam Community Hospitals Foundation Co-Chair.  By adding 1,600 square feet on the second floor west of the current fitness center space, and expanding the first-floor multi-purpose area by 800 square feet, the YMCA of Dodge County now has room for 50 more pieces of state-of-the-art fitness equipment.  “This project allows us to enhance our commitment to addressing the county’s health concerns such as diabetes and obesity,” Langfoss said. “We’re also able to provide new programming for our child care program and seasonal camps. It’s exciting to think about the significant positive impact this will have on our community.”   New programming ideas include Intro to Weightlifting, CrossFit, HIIT training, sports performance training, active aging classes and more.  An opening ceremony and ribbon cutting is scheduled for Monday, June 5.
