5-25-23 kohl’s reports surprise profit

NEW YORK (AP) — Kohl’s posted a surprise profit for the fiscal first quarter, helped by the department store chain’s moves to cut inventory in the wake of weak sales. 5-25-23 local unemployment rate drops again

The local unemployment rate continues to fall.   The city of Fond du Lac's jopless rate was down a tenth of a percent to 2.3 percent.   In Fond du Lac County the unemployment rate dropped from 2.1 to 1.9 percent.   The unemployment rate fell from 2.2 percent to 1.8 percent last month in Dodge County.

Two area companies are among ten Wisconsin companies to receive a state Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer Protection Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin grant.  Park Ridge Organics in Fond du Lac will use the grant to improve product branding, enhance the farm store customer shopping experience and launch new wholesale prepackaged product options.  Graves Family Orchard in Brownsville is developing systems to more efficiently prepare, harvest and sell fruit.

5-24-23 fdl police investigating reports of gunshots fired

Nobody was injured and Fond du Lac police are investigating after receiving reports of gunshots fired.   Shortly after 9pm Tuesday police officers responded to the area of South Main Street and East Pioneer Road for a report of gunshots.  Police were unable to locate any witnesses or property damage.  Later in the evening police canvassed an area near the East Pioneer Road BP Pit Stop gas station where officers located handgun casings.  Officers will be back […]

Fond du Lac Public Works says  the westbound lane of E Merrill Ave from Cottage Avenue to Champion Avenue is closed starting today.   The street will be closed for one week to allow  a private contractor to excavate a new water service on E. Merrill Avenue.
