The Ripon Early Bird and Noon Kiwanis clubs are asking for the public’s help to to raise the funds necessary to build an all-inclusive playground at Riggs County Park. The clubs hope to raise $80,000 to pay for the estimated $270,000 cost to build the playground that that will include 43 features for more than 230 children. The clubs will match up to $30,000 of donations made. The goal is to start construction next spring or summer.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
