Eight years after joining Agnesian HealthCare a Mount Calvary nursing home is closing it’s doors. SSM Health says the Villa Loretto nursing home is consolidating operations to St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. SSM Health told WFDL news the decision was made as Mt. Calvary’s demand for skilled nursing beds has been declining and Villa Loretto is at less than half its 50 bed capacity, coupled with the facility’s aging physical plant. SSM Health says it is working with Villa Loretto residents and their loved ones to assist them in relocating to St. Francis Home or a nearby location of their choosing. SSM Health says Villa Loretto will remain open until each resident is relocated to a new place that meets their needs and preferences. Employees have been offered jobs at St. Francis Home or to another SSM Health facility. The assisted living facilities at the adjacent Villa Rosa and petting zoo and Cristo Rey Ranch remain open. Villa Loretto opened in 1965 as a licensed skilled nursing home, caring for hundreds of residents in Mount Calvary and surrounding communities.
