The Moraine Park District Board has three new members.  Mike Schwab of Jackson,  Diane Guerrero of Beaver Dam and Melissa Kescenovitz of West Bend were sworn into office at the July 10th meeting.   They will serve three-year terms ending in June 2026.  Kescenovitz and Guerrero will serve as additional members, and Schwab will serve as an elected official member.  The board officers for the 2023-24 year are: Chairperson - Tom Hopp of West Bend […]

7-21-23 fdl police investigating death of tci inmate as a homicide

Fond du Lac police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Taycheeda Women's Prison as a homicide.  The Wisconsin Department of Corrections says guards found 68-year-old Cindy Schulz-Juedes unresponsive Wednesday in her cell at the Taycheedah  Correctional Institution. Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.  Sources told WFDL news that her cellmate beat and kicked her to death.  Schulz-Juedes was sentenced last year to life in prison without parole after being convicted in […]

7-21-23 hiring survey shows fewer employers plan to hire

7-21-23 wisconsin unemployment rate up slightly

Wisconsin's unemployment rate was up slightly last month, but total jobs reached a record of more than three million.    Preliminary employment estimates showed Wisconsin's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.5% in June, up from the record low 2.4 % in April and May, and below the national unemployment rate of 3.6%.  The total labor force grew by 14,000 and employment increased by 10,700 over the month of June.
