8-24-23 local unemployment rate drops in july

The local unemployment rate is down in July.   The Fond du Lac County jobless rate fell three-tenths of a percent to 2.9 percent last month.  The Dodge County unemployment rate in July was 2.7 percent, down from 3.1 percent in June.  The city of Fond du Lac’s  unemployment rate dropped from 3.8 to 3.5 percent in July.   In brief, the nonseasonally adjusted data for Wisconsin shows:

• Metropolitan Statistical Areas: Preliminary July 2023 unemployment rates declined in all 12 Wisconsin metro areas over the month and decreased or stayed the same in 6 the 12 areas over the year.
• Municipalities: Preliminary July 2023 unemployment rates declined or stayed the same in 34 of Wisconsin’s 35 largest cities over the month. Over the year, 19 Wisconsin cities had unemployment rates decrease or stay the same.
• Counties: Preliminary July 2023 unemployment rates decreased or stayed the same 68 of 72 Wisconsin counties over the month and decreased or stayed the same in 48 of 72 Wisconsin counties over the year.
