todayAugust 23, 2023

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republicans are demanding to know where three of Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’ appointees to the Department of Natural Resources board stand on wolf management, a sandhill crane hunt and PFAS pollution. The Senate’s Republican-controlled sporting heritage committee held a confirmation hearing Wednesday for Sharon Adams, Dylan Jennings and Paul Buhr. Committee members pressed them on whether they support a population limit for wolves, whether the state should implement a sandhill crane season and who should pay for cleaning up PFAS contamination. The appointees didn’t offer specific answers, saying wolves and cranes need more study and PFAS costs should be shared.
