8-16-23 fire damages fdl home

Nobody was injured in a fire that heavily damaged a Fond du Lac home. Shortly before 7pm Tuesday firefighters were called to the scene at 129 West Scott Street and quickly knocked down the fire. Nobody was home but two pets died. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the Red Cross is assisting the family.

8-16-23 fdl school disrict implementing new wellness program

The Fond du Lac School District is implementing a new employee wellness program.  Superintendent Dr. Jeff Fleig says LeapCare is an employee emotional well-being program.  Under the program a Care coach provides emotional care to the 850 employees of the Fond du Lac School District.  Dr. Fleig says the hope is that LeapCare will lead to higher levels of employee wellness.

8-16-23 halloween killer jury trial scheduled

A jury trial has been scheduled for next spring to determine whether the so-called Halloween Killer, Gerald Turner, should be released or remain in custody.  Following a hearing this month a four day jury trial was scheduled to begin April 16th, 2024.  The 73 year old Turner was convicted of killing nine year old Lisa Ann French while she was trick or treating in Fond du Lac on Halloween, 1973.   Turner was initially scheduled for […]

8-16-23 fdl man convicted of attempted homicide in stabbing outside tavern

A Fond du Lac man has been convicted  in  connection with a stabbing incident outside a Fond du Lac tavern a little more than a year ago.   Thirty two year old Vickendricka Jones pleaded no contest to attempted  first degree intentional homicide, and a pre-sentence investigation was ordered.   Police say Jones  stabbed a 40 year old Fond du Lac  man multiple times  outside the Press Box Tavern on Forest Avenue.  Police Chief […]

8-16-23 fdl restaurant damaged by fire reopens for business

A  Fond du Lac restaurant damaged by fire has reopened for business.   Boda's restaurant on East Pioneer Road reopened for business Tuesday morning.   Last Friday evening  firefighters were called to a report of smoke in the basement and smoke detectors sounding at the restaurant and arrived  to find the fire had self-extinguished in a closed mechanical room.  Nobody was in the building at the time.  A neighbor was outside the building  watering  flowers heard […]

8-16-23 back to school fdl supply drive

Every summer Fond du Lac families participate in a back to school supply give away.  Event organizer Jason Porter says more than two thousand kids have signed up for this year's event.  Fond du Lac School District Equity Coordinator Terrance Lofton says with the start of school right around the corner the program is greatly needed and appreciated.  Distribution Day is this Saturday at the Fond du Lac Boys and Girls Club.
