9-12-23 senate committee recommends firing meagan wolfe

todaySeptember 11, 2023

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Senate’s elections committee has recommended firing the state’s top elections official. Their vote along party lines on Monday clears the way for the full Republican-controlled Senate to vote on the future of nonpartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe as soon as Thursday. Democrats accuse Senate Republicans of improperly pushing the confirmation process through despite Wolfe not being appointed by a majority of the elections commission. Republicans have targeted Wolfe for how she ran the 2020 election, the results of which have withstood numerous reviews in Wisconsin. If the Senate moves to fire her, the matter is likely to be resolved by a lawsuit.
