The Waupun Police chief is stepping down. Scott Louden has resigned after 23 years of law enforcement service to pursue other opportunities. Deputy chief Jeremy Rasch has been named interim chief while the search for a new police chief is conducted. Meanwhile several volunteer firefighters were recognized at the Department’s recent holiday banquet, including Scott DeMotts and Wayne Opperman for 25 years of service.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
