An Oshkosh man has been convicted in connection with a fatal alcohol-related crash in Fond du Lac County. Fifty-seven year-old Brian Sippel has pleaded no contest to homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. Investigators say Sippel was intoxicated when he struck a vehicle that was stopped at a traffic signal on the Highway 151 Bypass at Interstate 41. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and a sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 19th. Sippel has two prior drunken driving convictions and a hit and run conviction.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
