1-9-24 milwaukee woman pleads guilty to homicide charges in crash that killed five

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A Milwaukee woman has pleaded guilty to five homicide charges after driving through a red light in May and crashing into another car, killing five passengers, including a 1-year-old girl and three teenagers. In exchange for the guilty plea Friday, prosecutors dismissed six other felony charges against 21-year-old Anteyona Sandifer. The nation’s employers added a robust 216,000 jobs last month.   Retired Ripon College economist Paul Schoofs says its the latest sign that the American job market remains resilient even in the face of sharply higher interest rates.  "It's really a reason to be happy about the new year,"  Schoofs told WFDL news.  December’s job gain exceeded the 173,000 that were added in November. A Hartford man was killed in a crash following a high speed chase in Dodge County. The chase started shortly before 6pm Sunday after a sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 33 near state Highway 67.
