SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital, 845 Parkside Street, is hosting a community blood drive from 11 am – 4 pm on Tuesday, May 21. The drive – through ImpactLife – is open to the public. Donors will get their choice of a gift card, T-shirt, or a donation to Best Friends Animal Society. Appointments are encouraged. Walk-ins welcome. To sign up, visit www.bloodcenter.org. Participants are asked to bring a picture ID. Here’s a helpful tip for donors: Make sure to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water before donating.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
