The highway construction season is underway and several major projects are on the schedule for Fond du Lac County. Highway commissioner Tom Janke says one of the big projects this year involves the reconstruction of County Highway N from Highway RP east to Highway 45. Other projects include Highways QQ, F, and Highway W from the Washington County line to Campbellsport. Janke says work is also slated for portions of Highways T, W, and MM near Waupun.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
