There was little change in the local unemployment rate last month. The city of Fond du Lac’s unemployment rate increased a tenth of a percent to 3.3 percent in March. The jobless rate was 2.9 percent in Fond du Lac County, up from 2.7 percent in February. The Dodge County unemployment rate was down a tenth of a percent to three percent.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
