Students at Hartford Union High School got a brief scare Friday morning when a staff member accidentally pushed an ALICE WAVE button used to notify local police of a violent intruder. Once confirmed it was an accident the principal went on the school intercom system to communicate the button was pushed by accident. The superintendent says classes continued as normal, and District leadership team went throughout the building checking on students and staff, apologizing for the accident, and answering any questions they may have.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
