The Fond du Lac County Health Department is offering free testing in observance of Sexually Transmitted Infection Awareness month. Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says more than 2.5 million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis were reported in the U.S. in 2022. Mueller says STIs must be treated as a public health priority.

A Middleton man is in custody following a high speed chase in Dodge and Fond du Lac counties that reached speeds in excess of 130 miles an hour. The chase started shortly after 7:30pm Saturday on Highway 151 near East Salem Road and ended nearly 30 miles later on Highway 26 in Fond du Lac County when a state Patrol trooper rammed the suspect vehicle. A Beaver Dam man was critically injured in an alcohol related motorcycle crash. The crash happened early Sunday morning on Owl Road in the town of Calamus. Deputies who arrived on the scene performed life saving measures and the victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital with life threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
Sparks from a passing train are believed to be the cause of two grass fires in Fond du Lac over the weekend.
