More information is coming to light about a chase involving a stolen vehicle in Fond du Lac County. Shortly before 8pm Tuesday a state patrol trooper pulled the vehicle over on Interstate 41 south of County Highway F for a speeding violation. The trooper learned the vehicle had been stolen and placed the driver in handcuffs, preparing to take him into custody. When the trooper went back to his squad car the suspect was somehow able to get back in the stolen vehicle and fled the scene. He exited the Interstate onto the Highway 151 Bypass. The chase ended when the vehicle rolled over in a construction zone on Pioneer Road near Theisen Middle School. The driver, a 44 year old Indiana man, was transported to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The state patrol says the suspect had a felony warrant for kidnapping in Indiana.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
