5-6-24 fdl county health department issues recall for 20lb bagged ice at taycheeda gas station

todayMay 3, 2024

The Fond du Lac County Health Department has issued a recall for bagged ice from a Taycheeda gas station.  Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says  20-pound bagged ice bought before April 19 from the Citgo Ledgeview Express, N7593 Taycheedah Way, could be contaminated with E. coli.   The 10-pound bags are not part of the recall.  The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s Bureau of Meat and Poultry Businesses conducted a routine sampling and detected coliform and E. coli on the station’s ice machine.  The bacteria can cause diarrhea and vomiting, but as of May 1, no illnesses were reported to the health department related to the recall.  The health department advises anyone who has consumed the ice should monitor themselves for signs or symptoms of a foodborne illness and contact their doctor. Anyone who has bought the recalled ice should discard it and not consume it.
