Fond du Lac residents brought their binoculars to the Greenway Arboretum in Fond du Lac Saturday morning to check out migratory birds. A bird walk was held Saturday morning at the arboretum located behind the West Pioneer Road Pick N Save grocery store. Event organizer Laura DeGolier says the Bird Walk covered 1.25 miles led by birders Dave and Kerry Sehloff. Birders also gathered in a woodland area at the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Agnes on the Ledge and later watched for birds at Lakeside Park West boardwalk.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
