6-17-24 motorcycle vs deer crash seriously injures fdl county man

A motorcycle vs deer crash sent a Fond du Lac County man to the hospital with serious injuries.  The crash happened shortly after 2am Sunday on southbound Interstate 41 near county highway OO.  A 56 year old South Byron man was flown by helicopter to Theda Care Regional  Medical Center in Neenah with serious injuries.  He was not wearing a helmet.

6-17-24 dodge county jail huber inmate walkaway in custody

A Huber inmate walkaway from the Dodge County Jail is in custody.   Thirty two year old Cody Griswold had left jail around midnight Thursday in his vehicle for a medical appointment at the  Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam but never arrived at the facility and  did not return to the jail.     The Dodge County Sheriff's Office says Griswold turned himself in about 5pm Friday.

6-17-24 mercury marine is laying off hundreds of workers

Fond du Lac's largest employer is laying off hundreds of workers.  Mercury Marine has announced  it will cut nearly 300 jobs at its Fond du Lac  headquarters.  The company says the layoffs are due to a "softening of consumer demand" in certain markets.  The company employs more than 3,500 full-time workers in Fond du Lac.  Merc says the company has a $5 billion annual economic impact in  Fond du Lac County.

6-17-24 more staff assaults at waupun prison

More staff assaults at the Waupun Correctional Institution.  Sources tell WFDL news there were three staff assaulted on second shift Thursday.  In one incident four staff members were involved in an altercation with an inmate and a civilian staff member received injuries.   The incidents come a day after a correctional officer was  treated at a hospital for head injuries after he was  attacked by an inmate in the prison's restricted housing unit Wednesday.
