A Milwaukee man has been convicted in the fentanyl overdose death of a Fond du Lac County man. Derrise Townsend has pleaded no contest to First Degree Reckless Homicide and a sentencing hearing will be scheduled. Townsend is accused of providing the fentanyl that led to the death of a town of Metomen man in May of 2020. Townsend is also charged with reckless homicide in Milwaukee County.
A Fond du Lac man was critically injured after he was struck by a vehicle. The incident happened about 9pm Friday on West Division Street between Main and Macy Streets. The first three human cases of West Nile in Wisconsin this year have been reported in residents of Outagamie, Fond du Lac, and Brown counties. A convicted child sex offender from Dodge County is being released from custody. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt told residents at a community notification meeting this week that Garon Leitzke has been granted supervised released and will be living at a residence on Highway 49 in Brownsville.
